This is Mrs. Speers’ second year teaching at Emmanuel Lutheran. She teaches fourth grade. Chelsea received a Divine Call to serve Emmanuel Lutheran in the spring before the 2011-12 school year. Before coming to Maui she taught Kindergarten at St. Paul’s Lutheran in Melrose Park, Illinois. An active oboist at school, she toured nationally and internationally with the University Wind Symphony. She also belonged to Kappa Delta Pi, the honors association for education. In the summer of 2010 she married a fellow Concordia Alum, Seth, who currently works at Maui Coffee Roasters. She and Seth currently reside in Wailuku. In her free time, Chelsea enjoys sewing, quilting, playing her oboe, surfing, and snorkeling. Chelsea belongs to several professional organizations, including the Lutheran Education Association (LEA), the International Reading Association (IRA) and National Association for Music Education (MENC). She is currently working on her Master of Arts in Education Administrative Services from Concordia Irvine. Chelsea loves teaching in a place where she is able to share her faith and Gospel of Christ everyday with her students. She firmly believes that an education without faith is not a complete education. She feels blessed to serve in the Lord in the role of school teacher.
