Mr. Bergman started out in 1973 as a sixth grade teacher and band instructor at Holy Cross Lutheran School in Collinsville, Illinois. Thirty-eight years later he has served as teacher at various grade levels third through eighth, directed athletics, coached a number of sports, directed elementary choirs and bands, and even served twenty years as principal at three Lutheran schools.  His first love is teaching and building a Christ Community in his classroom.  He also enjoys hiking, gardening, and beach activities.  He often says he has the best job in the world and would do it for free if he didn’t have to grade papers. In his adult life he has never left a bookstore empty handed or attended an eighth grade graduation without shedding tears.
