During National Lutheran Schools Week bring in a canned good for a raffle ticket. After you put your name on it put it in the prize pocket of the prize you want to win. We will then draw the winning ticket on Friday, March 8th during morning assembly.

Lutheran Malaria Initiative

As a school we have decided to send our offerings for this semester to the Lutheran Malaria Initiative (LMI). We have a school goal of $2,000.

Giving $1 can help a child with malaria receive medicine that will save the child’s life. $10 can provide a family with a treated bed net and the proper education on its use. $50 can pay for the cost of malaria prevention messages on a local radio station in Africa. $100 can help train a health care worker to diagnose and treat malaria. $1,000 or more can provide microscopes and other medical equipment to rural health clinics.

Every 60 seconds, a child in Africa dies from malaria. Through the Lutheran Malaria Initiative (LMI), we all can help fight this disease.

Nearly 700,000 people die each year from the malaria, and most of them are children and pregnant woman. But it doesn’t have to be this way. Malaria is a preventable and treatable disease. As Lutherans, we have a historic and confessional opportunity to make a difference, to turn the tide on malaria deaths.

This is our call. The preventable deaths of thousands of people in Africa cry out for a compassionate response. Through LMI, we can work together to restore health and inspire hope to people and families in Africa who are suffering from or vulnerable to the ravages of malaria.

Calendar Changes

Please note the following calendar changes. The last day of school this semester is December 18th. This day will be a half day.

The Elementary School will have school on March 26th, Prince Kuhio Day. The preschool will not have school that day. All students K-8 are expected to be in attendance.

Veterans Day

Emmanuel Lutheran School is forever grateful to those who have fought and those who are fighting and to those who will fight for our freedom.

Veterans Day is intended to honor and thank all military personnel who served the United States in all wars. In observance of Veterans Day we will not have school on Monday November 12, 2012. There are so many meaningful ways you can show your gratitude and support to veterans in our community, like offering to rake their leaves, wash their cars or bring them dinner or dessert. This year, reach out to a veteran you know, or one you may not, and do something unexpected. These men and women have contributed and sacrificed greatly for our nation, so do something special for them in return!
