This retelling of the Exodus story captures the humanity of Moses, Miriam, Aaron, Joshua, and the Pharaohs in humor and song. Please come and enjoy this musical as provided by the K-8^th choirs of our school. Don’t be surprised when you see some unusually adorable Plagues!

O’ahu Visitors

Today we had special visitors from O’ahu. They were the The Wahiawa Middle School’s Jazz Band, Iliahi Elementary’s Ukulele group, and Lutheran High Schools Hula halau. Our Pre-School and Grade School enjoyed the performance.

Math Matters

Math Matters is a competition for 3rd, 4th and 5th graders to promote math excellence in a fun venue. Our math club met once a week to prepare the students for the competition.

We went over topics such as decimals, fractions, simple geometry and simple algebra. We also had sample tests for them to take to get a feel for what kind of questions are given. The tests given were timed to get them used to answering the questions quickly. We also gave them some test taking tips for the multiple choice test to help them with the time constraint that is placed on them. This year’s competition was held at UH Maui College on Saturday, March 3.

Each school was allowed to have one team consisting of at least 1 3rd, 1 4th and 1 5th grader, with the 4th spot filled by any of the 3 grades. Each school could also have an alternate team, with the make-up of the team recommended to be the same as the first team (total of 8 students participating).

Our 2 teams competed in two math tests: one taken by each team member individually and one taken as a team working together on the solutions. Our students did very well and look forward to participating again next year!

Geography Bee

Congratulations to our students who won the right to represent their grade in our all-school Geography Bee: Noah, Kaylie, Brynn, Marea, Kaelyn, Katelyn, Maddy, Caleb, Ben, Andrew, and Ameera. Our winners were Caleb (second runner up), Andrew (first runner up), and Kaelyn (school champion). The Hawaii State Geography Bee is March 30 in Honolulu.

Spelling Bee

Last week we held our Grades 4-8 Spelling Bee. Congratulations to all who qualified for the school Spelling Bee: Laura , Sophia, Emma, Kaylie, Brynn, Marea, Andrew, Jessica, Ameera , and Madeline! Our champions are Andrew (1st) and Ameera (2nd). They will represent us at the Maui County Spelling Bee on February 2. Way to go!

Our school winners participated in the Maui County District Spelling Bee last Thursday. They both did very well in the competition. Andrew earned sixth place and Ameera earned third place!
Well done, Ameera and Andrew!
